Tractor Beam is the post-folk songwriting project of Canadian producer
Sasha Balazic and rounded out with a rotating cast of collaborators,
contributors and friends. The band was founded by Balazic in the winter of
2021 while studying creative writing and marketing at the University of
British Columbia. The project is currently based between the Toronto area
and New York City.
2023 saw Tractor Beam release their first LP Turtles All The Way Via
Vancouver’s dependable indie Imprint Kingfisher Bluez (home to early Peach
Pit and Winona Forever releases). The release had the band featured as one
of the country's most exciting new bands in Exclaim! Through 13 tracks and
16 contributors Tractor Beam’s debut offers an eloquent mix of freak folk
and 2000’s indie rock. From soaring cello to oscillating synths and spoken
word passages the project is an honest exploration of nostalgia, coming of
age and the musical influences that made Tractor Beam.
Early Reflections is an eclectic follow-up EP that further develops their
unique blend of slacker rock, singer-songwriter and indie-folk the band
calls post-folk. The project debuted at 192 on the North American College
Hot 200 Charts.
